As the director of Shalom I am humbled and challenged by the great needs that exist within our communities.

 
There is a need to support families and individuals who have no insurance to cover desperately needed mental health services.  Great is the need to offer discounted counseling services to individuals, families and couples.  Great is the need to help couples who are trying one last time to save their marriage or who are dealing with the unbearable pain of infidelity.    

Great is the need for educating persons on issues like anger management, financial planning and parenting.  Great is the need to offer a safe place for court ordered supervised visitation for parents and children in crisis and conflict with one another.  Great is the need to provide victims and offenders the opportunity to be reconciled to one another and to make things right after a crime has been committed.

Great is the need to offer Shalom’s professional services to those who struggle with the pain and fallout associated with issues of drug and alcohol addiction, gambling, sexual addiction, and physical and emotion abuse.  Great is the need to provide a safe place for a child who has been sexually abused to share their pain and experience healing.  Great is the need to offer grief support to those who have suffered loss and the death of a loved one.

As much as I am challenged and humbled by the needs that exist in our community I am equally inspired by the generosity of those who support and take ownership in the work of Shalom.
